This was found in a 150-year old mission. The stair overlap was so thin that only the balls of your feet could be placed on the outside edge. Probably one of the more disturbing artifiacts we discovered after using the stairs were the small stones that were shoved into the cracks of the center column to shore up its structural integrity (photo at right).
