California / Randy's Donuts

This actually used to be a Winchell's Donuts back when they reigned supreme over doughnuts.
[Scholarly note: Reader Don Solosan points out that this building, along with many other like it, started life as one of the "Big Donut Drive-In" chain owned by Russ Wendell, founder of Pup 'n Taco. Says Don, "There are a few other examples (complete with giant donut) in the LA area: Kindle's (the first of the chain) on South Normandie, Donut King II on South Western Ave., Gardena, and I've heard of a fourth in Compton, but haven't seen it with my own eyes."]
